1 Day in Missoula

When 30 photographers set out to document the goings-on in Missoula every year, concern about the weather and how it affects the light runs high. Although Wednesday, May 15 saw clouds for many of the daylight hours, the darkening evening storm blew out right before the sun set to form a much-photographed rainbow and beautifully lit cloud system.

Nearly 100 frames of this fairly common weather phenomenon were made from numerous points around the city, some of which we’ve included here. All were photographed between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m.
