Re: “Wolves

I am so ashamed to be a Montanan. People in other states and other countries think we're all a bunch of animal butchering sociopaths. The MT. FWP and our governor apparently don't give a darn what the majority of the people think about hunting and trapping. Our state government and corrupt FWP officials will no doubt continue to pander to the special interest groups who line their greedy pockets in this barbaric state. The eyes of the world are upon Montana and what we do here regarding wolf management. Our hunting policies and these new proposals will most certainly impact tourism in a negative way. People are already boycotting our state and our products. I think it's going to get worse as time goes on. People are outraged.

Re: “Wolves

There never has been any fact based, current science used in the wild life management process in the NRM. It's all about the livestock and hunting industries which run Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Brutal, archaic, inhumane destruction of the native wild life populations. Indiscriminately killing animals for fun does nothing to protect livestock or pets or people. It is nothing more than satisfying blood lust and the Neanderthal, mancave tendencies of a few evil folks.

Re: “Not alone

"Missoula has a homeless problem."

Um, no. Missoula has a homeless solution. When a society comes to a place where inequity and inequality reign, the solution is to relegate those who are least able to compete to a position of outcast.

Most houseless people do not choose to live as they do. They live as they do because our society deems it better that they do so, than to provide real opportunities for alternatives, by decreasing the inequities that have stratified our communities.

Rampant homelessness is just another indicator of the structural poverty that we have allowed to become ingrained, so that the well-to-do can feel their superiority as they cast breadcrumbs about and assuage their guilt.

Re: “Wyoming coyote trapper defends graphic photos

Everyone who disagrees with a particular point of view refers to that point of view as "incoherent." This isn't rocket science. This is so simple that a one-celled amoeba could understand it: Allowing, much less staging and encouraging, a brutal attack on any creature who is trapped, unable to defend itself, and in considerable pain and anguish is cruel and barbaric. Think "Roman gladiators." Coherent enough for you, "pure red-blooded American" that you claim to be? "Pure red-blooded American" doesn't equal "Cruel Barbarian."

Re: “Staffers at Partnership Health Center in Missoula allege harassment, wrongful discharge

As a current employee at PHC, I have heard the rumors and comments from different employees, so I decided to read more. I have heard that Adam Jensen often yells at the receptionists and his nurse. That he complains to patients about PHC and leadership every chance he gets (very unprofessional at best). He comes off as an entitled spoiled brat. That the women dentist that works there, I have been told, is not kind at all, her patients often leave untreated and that she is rather rough and, for a lack of better terms, "bitchy" to her patients. Maybe PHC isn't the best choice for these two dentists. It appears that the dentists at PHC have a pretty cush job. Four days a week and are out of the office by 4:00. Their student loans are being paid for them. Now, this is all hearsay, however, it sounds to me like they do not appreciate their jobs. Adam, be happy you have a job. You work at a public health clinic not private practice. Stop being so negative and looking for issues to bitch about, in attempts to bolster your lawsuit. Do what you went to school to do, dentistry, work out your contract and move on. Do you think that all the negativity you are bringing to PHC causes a happy work environment for your co-workers? Clearly not. A lot of people are talking and don't have the nicest things to say about you. Opinions generally are that you are a cry baby, angry that you weren't chosen for the director position.

Re: “Bear market

I totally agree that we cannot point the finger and blame China when we continue to allow trapping to continue in this country. Over 80 countries have banned trapping, and it is WAY past time that the good ole USA stands up and does the right thing. BAN trapping and stop sacrificing our wildlife to rich and wanna be rich Chinese!

Re: “Lost

I would say the Sheep Station has failed its mission. Given that grizzly bears are a key 'umbrella species' part of that rangeland ecosystem they have clearly not “increasing[ed] production efficiency for sheep and … simultaneously improve [d] the sustainability of rangeland ecosystems.”
And remember the USFWS Grizzly bear recovery plan included the necessity of establishing a third major grizzly breeding population CONNECTED to the two existing major breeding populations in order to protect against genetic inbreeding issues. The Selway Bitterroot wildland ecosystem is the only place that fits that bill. Nothing is being done to augment the grizzly population there, so delisting Yellowstone griz would be shortsighted (and illegal) when they are still faced with genetic depression.
Whoever offed bear 726 is an example of what can happen in the shallow end of the gene pool. Cull.
I don't know how big the creek involved was but maybe it was a case of shoot, ship off and shut up.

Re: “Not alone

Sorry Katherine, that was rude. I understand everyone has different ways of dealing with the homeless problem in their own life. And I'm sure we all want the best for them. But abstracting the homeless into a homily and lesson for our own enlightenment seems miss the point a bit.

Re: “Wolves

Montana is so backward it is sickening! Since when do you call this management? You ignore science and whore to special interests! Shameful! This is why many people will NOT vacation in Montana! It is unfortunate that you border Yellowstone - you even kill Yellowstone wolves! This is nothing but blood lust and kill crazy. The public finds you despicable!

Re: “Not alone

I ask my self, who would choose such a life as a beggar, I give when able, which is not always the case. reminding me of that crack, the edge, the poor, forgotten. Where it be self forfilled or circumstantially. It gives me Pause, to be thankfull, gratefull, of how close .therfore by the grace of GOD go I. I reach out my hand in grace that I have recieved. Look Them in the eye, chat up a bit.
Survival mode is a cruel blow to self esteem, social and interpersonal skills.
We want to help, but not enable.. we want change, but are quick to judge.
Who"s that pooping in my yard.....sleeping at my window beneath my evenings slumber.
A reminder. therefore by the grace of God go I.

Re: “Bear market

All you have to do is look at trapper pages to know where all the skins are going and how much they are getting for the skins....poaching is just one of the sources for these animals. However, AMERICANS are to blame in reality for this horror! WITHOUT poachers and trappers IN THIS and other countries, the SICK COUNTRY of china and others that demand skins and parts of these animals for their SICK pleasure...this would not be an AMERICAN problem! When this country stands up and says NO MORE then perhaps our natural environment will be saved...until then we can watch them become extinct! And mark my words it will happen!
