Let's be real, people are going to drink. They drink in good times and in bad. They drink a little and they might find themselves drinking too much. Whatever the case, as a community, let's give people options to get home safe. There have been too many impaired driving accidents that affect this community greatly. Right now there are very few.
Why doesn't The Missoula County DUI Task Force take some action and help to restart this under new leadership. Monetary assistance from grants, city funds, county funds from the bankrolling on DUI's?
A question and a charge to The Missoula County DUI Task Force: What is more important: 1. Bankrolling on DUI's? 2. Getting people home safe and keeping impaired drivers off the road?
Is the City Council planning on opening another homeless shelter, or contributing funds to the much-needed expansion of the Poverello Center? If homeless folks had a place to go, with food, shelter, and medical/social services available, perhaps they would not feel the need to panhandle. Seems like this does nothing to confront the actual problem at hand.
Beautifully written Jayme. Judy B. and all of us that know you are smiling I am quite sure. The holiday is pesky and complicated for most of us and it is true death fractures families like little else. Forging a new normal is the challenge.
The truly sad back story for our community & Russ Talmo's unfortunate assault. Thank you Jessica Mayrer for this piece. I think moving forward with the healing process starts with raising community awareness of senseless violence around Missoula and helping raise support for crime victims like Russ. Please pitch in if you can:
My God! I hope this guy is going to be ok and the cowardly jerk that did this crime gets caught. We just don’t need this sort of trash running around Missoula.
Thanks goes out to Blake Nicolazzo for putting out the word on the fund set up to help Russ in his recovery. I’m going to give.
All I can say is that I see huge lawsuits coming out of this. Parents of children under the age of 18 have a right to know what kind of medication there child is taking.
Actually here in MT there is no limit on the number of rounds you can have in a gun hunting big game. I was sure the limit was 4, but I asked a game warden directly and there is no limit (for big game hunting). So yes, if you wanted to you could hunt with an AK or an AR15. I hunt with a bolt action rifle, but its personal choice, not law.
did anyone get any description of the attacker?
Thank you Jessica and the Indy for bringing this story to the Missoula community
God, I hope find the bastard who did this and put him away for a long time.
Whether or not "knockout" was a phenomenon before all the media attention, it is one now and susceptible sociopaths will take it up. Tragic events follow - how to avert them? Better to shun the whole idea or to create a counter-narrative?
The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago: a random, unprovoked assault - downtown. I won't go anywhere alone anymore after dark.
anything held by the Koch bros. will only benefit rich people, if you're not really wealthy this is for you.
There is a fund set up to help Russ in his recovery:
This is an old story, but were the results of the accounting of Chad's money released??!!?
That’s funny sam. We will see, wont we?
As a Northwesterner, I'm tired of city folks trying to tell country folks how to live. I think it's time we dump wolves into the mountains of southern California and the rural areas outside of other major metropolitan areas.
And, then, I'll just lean back and...wait...
Could it be the area construction and the Urban Renewal Tax District did the business in? It was nice to have movies shown in that part of town.
The club has moved to 1500 W Broadway
