Jason is a true entertainer - saw him play at the Ren Fair in Moscow a few years ago loved his songs and his energy. My kids were completely capitivated too.
Please excuse the typo - "imitate".
Just read your article and the positive comments you made were well received. However, I would just like to say that although I have always been primarily a classical music buff myself - I bought two Soulsville CD's to play in my vehicle and at home - and quite frankly, I would describe the work as musical perfection. As to simplicity, genius is the ability to make something difficult seem simple. That is what Huey Lewis and the News do, although numerous cover bands, games, and individuals try to immitate/replicate what he and his band do so well - no one does it as well. And quite frankly, Mr. Lewis and his band have stood the test of time, as few others have done. Let's see where his critics are in 40 years.
The new c.d.,"Blue Highway",takes the ribbon for anything our "soulking of the northwest" has ever put together, extremely listenable. My favorites are:"Needless To Say",and "Gray Life",I love "South Dakota Girl",too.Russell Nasset, when I don't hear new music from you and your band for too long a time,I go crazy,so start working on the next, now!Thankyou for treating us,good luck!Wende Jarman(barber from Florence,Oregon)

Gansta Rap? Lol oh no... Fuck Gangsta. But I do like how honest dude is. Personally, I'd give the album a 33%... Posing tho? I'm. Pretty sure I did "my deed" and spent between 15 and 20 g's to make that album happen. Shit is boring tho HA! (I wonder if I'm suppose to be commenting my own shit) one last thing, umpa lumpa is weak and I'm a nerd who talks shit. That's it.
The raw honesty of poi boi gets me everytime, and the metal flavor of mosh and the pure fun of alien girl provide variety. This album has something for everyone!
I liked it. Part of the "charm" of White Girl Diaries was the unapologetic nature of the artist's lyrics. Though some were juvenile, most were catchy and despite the symbolism we can read into any lyrics by any artist, I found Koshir's White Girl Diaries to be catchy. There is a song for my every mood or frame of mind.
I think that Shane has much to offer the country music scene. And, hopefully, he will get his break - a much deserved one at that. Having said this however, I find it unproductive to call other artists names, particularly "monkeys." I am confident that I am more knowledgeable of one of the acts being named in this article than is the author. This artist is far from a "monkey." Moreover, the two artists beings named in the article have very different country styles - so, why would you group them together! In short, support the accolades of Shane's music without undermining your credibility by trying to bring others down!
Sadly disappointed in this review. Complaints about track titles being too long... perhaps you should listen to the album another time, preferably with surround sound and loud. This album is one of the best musicals journey's I've experienced in a long time.
In addition to being a great traditionalist songwriter, Caleb fronts the most kick-ass honky tonk dance band around. If it wasn't a 10 hour drive, I'd be out on the dance floor Tuesday!
The best part of the album is track 8, because I'm featured on it.

A good and fair, if subjective review. Exactly what I want and expect from the only weekly paper for 1000 miles that reviews punk records. This is a good review because it provides a picture of what the music sounds like, talks about the high points, and ultimately says whether thumbs up or down, for this one person, is it something she recommends. You may disagree, but it's fine as arts critique.
I'm not sure what the alternative is, but I like reading opinion and recommendations in my reviews.
Seriously, that was a terrible review. Just because the lyrics don't mean anything to you doesn't mean they won't for someone else therefore it shouldn't have such a dominance over your review. Try focusing on more than just the lyrics if they bother you that much or please find a new job.
wow, we listened to a different record - I LOVE this record and think she brings something new and fresh to some songs I've always loved and others I can't believe I'd missed. It's tastefull as hell and a nice addition to her own records which are just STUNNING. I've seen her perform before and she's just amazing live. Sorry that your frames of reference are so limited...hope you caught the show and have since been enlightened...
Erika, Thanks for listening and thanks for the review. In the time that I have been writing and playing my own songs I have heard the entire spectrum from "hated it" to "Love it when can I hear more..." It's O.K. to hear you did not like it. That's cool, not everyone can like the same type of music. There are those who don't like Zappa ! I KNOW ! I have received some rave reviews of "STEVE ME ALONE" from some folks who have been treated to a preview. Funny how even of those listeners, they rarely share the same Favorite Cut. What ever you like , that's allright by me. So I keep on doing the music I hear. Any artist that filters their art through an imaginary sieve of current social trends, really does a dis-service to the rest of us. I prefer to hear exactly what their muse is saying to them. Songsters, be true to your Art. Besides, nothing says "HONEY" like "BABY" !!!! Peace StevJ
Erika, Thanks for listening, and thanks for the review. Over the 30 some years that I have been writing tunes, I have heard both negative and constructive criticism. Balanced by very positive responses. I'd say I have heard the entire spectrum from " hated it " to "Love it when I can I hear more" So I just keep in playing what I hear in my mind. Its O.K. to hear that you did not like it. Not for you . That's cool because some people don't like Zappa! I know ! Some people like Celine Dion! I Know! But luckily they have the choice. Any artist that changes to please any one but their own muse, really does the rest of us a dis-service, by denying us the chance to hear what their own personal muse says to them. Besides Nothing Says HONEY like BABY!!! Peace Stev
Re: “The Hail Seizures”
Is it just me, or does Ali Gadbow sound completely full of shit?
