I summitted Trapper Peak on April 25 with the Rocky Mountaineers. We had perfect weather and nice snow conditions, with a couple of inches of fresh on top of a consolidated base. It was a little bit soft and sticky on the bottom half of the descent, but I'd been slow getting to the top, and it had gotten late in the day by the time we came down.
Snow drifts on the road forced us to park at a switchback about 1,000 vertical feet below the trailhead, but it was a relatively straightforward bushwack up the ridge to the normal starting point. We were able to start skiing about a quarter mile beyond the trailhead, and made the round trip in roughly nine hours. Thanks to Alden Wright for organizing the trip.
