Diane Sands has been my friend for over 40 years. I know that Diane will make an excellent senator for Senate District 49. Diane understands the varied needs of her rural and urban constituents in Senate District 49. Sands has made a difference for the Lolo community. She sponsored legislation that secured $280,000 for the expansion of Travelers’ Rest State Park, which included the addition of the visitors’ center and museum.
Diane Sands has committed to preserving Montana heritage and has worked tirelessly at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula where she raised more than $350,000 in federal, state and local funding for historic preservation. As a result, Diane received the 2013 Montana Historic Preservation Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. As a historian and a person born and raised in Montana, Sands has demonstrated her love of Montana and its people.
