Best example of your influence on Best of Missoula

Posted By on Wed, Jul 11, 2012 at 11:33 AM

In case you haven't heard yet, tomorrow marks the Indy's biggest issue of the year: Best of Missoula. Since this is the 18th year such an issue has been put together, we've heard most of the criticisms, complaints and conspiracy theories, and while they usually sound like whispers next to the roar of celebratory cheers that greet this feel-good issue, it's important to note that your feedback is taken into sincere consideration.

And we have proof!

Last year's ballot included a bonus question: Best Category We Forgot. In our summary of your suggestions we noted how many made us chuckle ("Best Place to Pee in Public") and nod in agreement (“Best Class in the Face of Stupid Criticism,” a direct reference to Missoula Children’s Theatre’s Sarah Palin brouhaha), and how a few would actually be strong contenders for future voting.

Among the recommendations definitely under consideration for next year will be “Best Local Album,” “Best Local Blogger,” “Best Margarita,” and, if only because everyone we know has an opinion on this last one, “Best/Dreamiest Good Food Store Employee.”

Lo and behold, tomorrow we'll unveil the inaugural Best Local Album and Best Margarita.

I'm still holding out hope that Best/Dreamiest Good Food Store Employee makes it in 2013.

Still reading? You must be excited about Best of Missoula. So are we! That's why we're throwing the Best of Missoula party Thursday night at Caras Park (in conjunction with Downtown ToNight). There will be food, drinks, family-friendly activities and live music from Tom Catmull and the Clerics and DAWNS featuring David Boone. Admission is free and things get started at 5:30. See you there. Now, stop reading. We're done. Honest.
