No, today marks the close of regular voter registration at the Missoula County Courthouse. The county counts 18,842 inactive voters within city limits, meaning more than a few folks will not receive mailed ballots for the Nov. 8 City Council election.
Here's the announcement from Missoula County Clerk & Recorder Vickie Zier:
Voters are deemed inactive if they did not vote in 2010 or if the voters’ mail ballot in the May 3, 2011 election was returned to the Elections’ Office as undeliverable. Inactive voters will not receive the municipal mail ballot. Inactive voters are strongly encouraged to activate their registration to receive a ballot for the upcoming municipal election. Voters can check the status of their registration through the Missoula County elections website at http://www.co.missoula.mt.us/Election/voterreg.htm.
Active voters who are registered to vote within the city limits will be eligible to vote in the Municipal Mail Ballot Election. Ballots will be mailed on October 24, 2011. Voters can track the status of their mailed ballot by accessing the Missoula County Elections’ Office website.
