The weekend's tragic entertainment news means another chapter will be added to The 27s: The Greatest Myth of Rock & Roll.
Arts Editor Erika Fredrickson wrote about the book and its creators,
former Missoula residents Eric Segalstad and Josh Hunter, in 2009. The gist: Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, the Stones' Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Robert Johnson, and now Amy Winehouse have all died at age 27. Segalstad, who was also an Indy intern and frequent contributor
back in the day, explained he was skeptical of the idea.
“I’m a realist, I’m not someone who really believes in kind of wishy-washy things,” says Segalstad. “It is really eerie. The number itself I find kind of eerie; it’s just one of those numbers. But of course once you start paying attention to anything you can find patterns in it.”
