The Missoula Police Department will be out in force this weekend, specifically targeting with extra patrols people driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The effort begins Friday afternoon and continues through Monday.
The mobilization aims to reduce crashes involving people under the influence, which are significantly higher on Halloween. According to a release from the city, “A recent national study found that 58 percent of drivers involved in fatal crashes on Halloween are driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. That’s higher than the impaired driving rate of New Year’s Eve."
