As if the "Broadway Diet" didn't offer enough reason to re-route away from West Broadway, the Missoula Police Department will be conducting a "Traffic Enforcement Event" along the 2100 block of that thoroughfare today from 6 to 9 p.m.
From the official release:
The purpose of this temporary roadblock is to promote traffic safety awareness. The Missoula Police Department encounters thousands of drivers each year with registration violations, insurance violations and driver's license violations. This is an effort to bring more drivers into compliance with those state laws and with municipal traffic codes. Local law enforcement has used this enforcement strategy in the Missoula area before with positive results.
The checkpoint will be clearly marked with signs, lights and uniformed officers. Officers will use marked vehicles and will be checking for current driver's licenses, registrations and insurance. Drivers will experience minimal delays and should have the proper documentation with them — proof of insurance, driver's license and registration.
Highway Technologies and Iron Horse Towing have agreed to donate services to assist the Missoula Police Department in this public safety event. The Montana Highway Patrol will also assist the Police Department.
