A pretty awesome new site has cropped up around the ever-worsening BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Well, awesome might not be the best word, considering this is shaping up to be the worst environmental disaster in our nation's history. IfItWasMyHome.com centers the slick over your zip code, so you can visualize the geographical implications of the disaster if, hypothetically, its source was in western Montana. Really puts developments in the Gulf into perspective.
The page also includes live feed from a BP camera at the source of the spill, as well as a running estimate of how many gallons have been leaked into the Gulf.
In other odd oil spill news, the Environmental Protection Agency has invited the nation's top minds in science and engineering to brainstorm a solution for stopping the gushing well. Apparently that list includes Oscar-winner James Cameron. Hey, if the guy can sink the Titanic again and make it sexy, what's one leaky pipe? He's already offered BP full use of his private submarine fleet. We only hope his answer to the disaster doesn't somehow involve Avatar.
