Cold reception

Local boosters and UM officials recently went through motions of bidding to host the FCS championship game in Missoula. What do the pundits think of their bid?

"It is hard to think that Missoula, MT. has much of a chance," writes David Coulson of The Sports Network.

While Coulson likes Missoula restaurants and local hospitality, he rightly notes that brutal winter weather, expensive airfare and an insufficient press box make Washington-Grizzly Stadium a long shot. The only longer shot, according to Coulson: Spokane, because, well, it's Spokane.

The NCAA will review the bids over the six months. Chattanooga (the current host), Frisco (that's in Texas) and Little Rock are also in the running.
