Snarky sports blog Deadspin picked up on Bobby Hauck's bickering with the campus newspaper, and let's just say the Gawker-affiliated site isn't a huge fan of the ol' ball coach.

Under the headline, "You Don't Mess With Montana Communications Students," author Barry Petchesky calls the Kaimin's response to Hauck's recent blackballing of the paper "beautifully catty." The Kaimin, as you'll recall from our blog post 10 days ago or Saturday's Missoulian story, decided to cover Cal Poly's team during Homecoming weekend after Hauck refused to answer the paper's questions and allegedly had players refuse interviews. Petchesky then offers some colorful background:

It started when the Kaimin, UM's student paper, published an investigation on an alleged assault by two players. Coach Bobby Hauck, a gaping vagina of the highest order, made his displeasure known in his press conferences.

Ah, Griz pride.

Deadspin, for those not in the know, ranks among the most popular sports blog sites on the Internet with more than 567,000 page views per day. Known for coverage "without access, favor or discretion," the site last reported on UM with a preview of the men's basketball team's first-round NCAA tournament upset of Nevada in 2006.
