For those of you who haven't heard, Cold Smoke ice cream returned to Big Dipper vats last week. KECI picked up on the news via Twitter, and the video spot quickly spread to NBC affiliates nationwide. Big Dipper owner Charlie Beaton announced on Tuesday that Kathie Lee Gifford plans to sample the flavor on the "Today" show.
For those of you who have heard, I offer a twist: a bona fide Cold Smoke milkshake recipe, party-tested and party-approved. Understand this offer comes at great personal sacrifice, but what the hell. Just in time for the weekend, right?
Three scoops Cold Smoke ice cream
Seven shots Cold Smoke Scotch Ale (or whatever that translates to in cups)
One teaspoon vanilla
A dash milk or cream
Add a dash of beer or sliver of ice cream as you go to tweak viscosity. I recommend using a milkshake maker, though blenders work almost as well. Warning: the Cold Smoke milkshake, like any beer milkshake, is an acquired taste. Stick with it long enough and you'll come to love the funky aftertaste.
